Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2025
Digital Tradies ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use and safeguard your personal information when you use our website at digitaltradies.com or engage our services.
We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
When you fill in our contact form, book a call, or communicate with us, we may collect:
- Your name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Your trade or business type
- Any message or details you include
- Your preferred method of contact
Information collected automatically
When you visit our website, we may automatically collect:
- IP address and approximate location
- Browser type and version
- Device type and screen size
- Pages visited and time spent
- Referring website or search terms
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your enquiries and provide quotes
- Deliver the web design, SEO and reviews services you have engaged us for
- Send project updates and invoices
- Improve our website and services
- Understand how visitors use our site so we can make it better
We will never sell your personal data to third parties or send you unsolicited marketing unless you have opted in.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we process your data on the following grounds:
- Consent — when you submit a contact form or sign up for communications
- Contract — when we need your data to deliver services you've purchased
- Legitimate interest — to improve our website and understand how it is used, where this does not override your rights
4. Cookies
We use two analytics tools, and only one of them uses cookies. Umami is self-hosted and cookieless — it counts page views without storing anything on your device or identifying you, so it runs for every visitor. Google Analytics does set cookies, so it only runs if you accept them.
We do not use advertising, marketing or profiling cookies.
You choose when you first arrive, and you can change your mind at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer. We will ask again after six months. You can also disable cookies in your browser settings; doing so will not affect your ability to use our website.
5. Third-Party Services
We may use trusted third-party services to operate our business, including:
- Hosting provider — to serve our website
- Email service — to respond to enquiries
- Analytics — Umami (self-hosted, cookieless) and Google Analytics (only with your consent), to understand website usage
- Payment processor — to handle invoices and payments securely
These providers only process your data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection obligations.
6. Data Retention
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months unless we enter into a service agreement, in which case your data is retained for the duration of our business relationship plus 6 years (as required for tax and legal purposes).
You can request deletion of your data at any time — see "Your Rights" below.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss or misuse. Our website is served over HTTPS, and we limit access to personal data to those who need it to carry out their work.
8. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent — at any time, where consent is our legal basis
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].
If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
9. Children's Privacy
Our services are aimed at businesses and tradespeople. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
